Welcome to Stop Beacon Solar

Stop Beacon Solar is a community website set up to oppose the construction of a massive solar farm proposed by Galileo Empower for an area of North Devon centred around Holsworthy Beacon.

 

The site, for up to 2,750 acres of solar panels, battery storage and ancillary equipment would be by far the biggest in Devon and Cornwall and could well end up being one of the largest in the United Kingdom!  The land currently under consideration is all undulating agricultural farmland and extends from just north of the market town of Holsworthy to the villages of Chilsworthy in the west, Sutcombe and Milton Damerel in the north and Thornbury Woodacott and Cookbury Wick in the east. 

 

This website aims to provide a platform to raise awareness, share insights, spark conversations, and build a team to ensure that thls crazy plan to destroy our beautiful rural environment, local communities and people's lives is halted.
